Distinctive features of Six Sigma ranks

White Belts are the lowest level of Six Sigma, which signify that they attend a short review about Six Sigma. These lectures give a general knowledge on the subject like learning a specialized terminology connected with Six Sigma (meaning, standard derivation etc). The majority of company's personnel is trained at the White Belt level. Green Belts and Black Belts are responsible for the data collection. What is more, White Belts could lend a hand in case they have any difficulties or misunderstanding in gathering information.

The second level is called Green Belts, who are trained in Six Sigma at a much more advanced method. The terms of education can take from a few days to several weeks. They are trained on the basis of newly assorted techniques such as the Six sigma DMAIC road map to improve personal results. Green Belts have proper duties and basically they are in the head of small projects, which don't represent a strategic importance for their business. However, sometimes they back up larger projects, which are in a competence of highly qualified Black Belts. So Green Belts control certain improvement processes in a fixed direction. Green Belts aren't experienced and qualified enough to take part in advanced Six Sigma concepts and, furthermore, to put forward possible solutions to common problems.

The next level of Six Sigma is Black Belts, whose training includes application of advanced statistical tools and techniques for process improvements. Black Belts take part in such projects, which play more important role for the whole company.A duration of their training may last from simply a week to even four weeks. It should be mentioned that it's better to attend the Black Belt training only after you have finished the Green Belt course, because Green Belt course gives a fundamental knowledge, without which you will not be able to understand the aspects of the Black Belt course. That's why your education must be consecutive.

Master Black Belts represent a top ladder of the Six Sigma. Its candidates are professionals and spend the whole span of working time on Six Sigma implementation in projects. They lead grandiose projects by its importance and by its organizational scale. They also carry out such functions like participation in the training process and guidance of both Green Belts and Black Belts. Master Black Belts give them nessessary instructions during realization of a Six Sigma idea, control a process of making decisions and evaluate the final results of their work.
