A Bachelors Degree in Psychology may not allow you to start your own private practice, but it certainly does offer a lot of career options. Read on to find out the different career options that you can pursue with your Bachelors degree in Psychology.

If you want to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, then at the undergraduate level you will have to take up psychology as your subject. The 4 year psychology degree won't qualify you to start your own private practice. In order to do so, you will have to get a Master's Degree and then a Doctorate Degree.

However, while you pursue all these options, there is a way for you to get your career in psychology started on the right footing. With a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, there are a number of career options available for you.

As a student graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, you may prefer to work in fields where you deal with people on a daily basis. Typically, you can work in areas like Case Management, as a Career Counselor, as a Psychiatric Technician, or as a Rehabilitation Specialist. You may also find work opportunities with large agencies as a Case Worker or as a Client Advocate.

You can work at places where you do not require any special licensing apart from your 4 year Psychology Degree. For example, you can work with your State or Local government as a Human Services Associate. You can also work with mental health providers as a Case Manager. You can also find work opportunities as a Residential Staff person at several inpatient and outpatient facilities at different facilities for developmental disabilities, youth detention, or mental health.

If you want to pursue a career option in areas not dealing with health per se, but requiring adequate people management skills, then you can even consider working in fields such as human resources, administration and advertising. You can work in areas dealing with sales, labor relations, real estate and business services marketing. These are specific professions where the knowledge of how the human mind works becomes the essential key to success.

And if you want to go ahead and pursue your Master's Degree in Psychology, the experience you gain while working in these different careers and jobs will be extremely invaluable to you. The key learning you will gain during your work experience is the wealth of interpersonal skills - which will no doubt become more and more useful to you as you go up the career ladder in Psychology.
