Which Plants Do Well In Water?

Many plants not just grow well in soil and water but do well in just water alone. An old favorite is the heart-leaved philodendron. Ivy that is called the Devil's ivy can be grown beautifully in large shallow dish filled just water. The ivy will quickly spread to form a wonderfully handsome blanket of foliage. The English ivy, wandering Jew, Chinese evergreen, Sander's dracaena and the arrowhead vine, are all very happy in just water.

Keeping your plants at their healthiest, change the water monthly or at least every other month. Be sure to add a few drops of liquid fertilizer for nourishment and neutralize the wastes with a handful of charcoal. To stop the plant from falling over, anchor their roots in a ball of crumpled chicken wire or pin point flower holders. Dark or opaque containers are better for your plants than clear vases. Clear vases admit too much light, which encourage the growth of green algae in the nutrient laden water.

Most vines grow rapidly and create some minor problems. To avoid vines that grow to long and look out of control, you need to nip off straggling ends occasionally; this will keep your plants in beautiful shape. Plants that a not trimmed look unhealthy and skimpy. A fuller foliage is much more attractive and adds to the beauty of your room.

Using different sizes and type of containers will only add to the beauty of you plants. There are many types of plant or not plant container that you can use to decorate your home. Don't limit yourself, use your imagination. The only requirements needed to grow your plants are what are necessary for your plants to be healthy. Check with a foliage houseplant books at your library or go line, look under the title care of houseplants in water only.
