The Carbon footprint has only just recently been coined. Many may ask what a carbon footprint is and the response is that it is an emission from every human being, including yourself, your family, your friends and the people you see every single day. These carbon footprints are generally created over a specific period of time, including days, weeks, months and years. Normally it is generalized that if you live a fast New City style pace of life, you will emit more energy than someone who lives a more relaxed and naturalistic lifestyle. The fast paced lifestyle means more use of energy consuming products on a daily basis such as computers, cell phones, transportation (fuel), lights etc.
So why is a carbon footprint important? Well, these emissions directly affect global warming. Since global warming has become a hot subject especially in the political arena, it is crucial that citizens of the world become aware of what is going on with global warming and how they can prevent more damage from occurring. With the reduction of global footprints, global warming is being prevented. This article will guide you through some ways on how to become more ecologically friendly in order to save the environment.
One great way to make a positive impact on the environment is to plant a tree. Trees offer a cycle of taking in carbon dioxide and converting it into fresh oxygen for all to enjoy. Therefore, even if you may not be able to personally plant the tree, you will be able to find many organizations and volunteer groups that need your support and donations to plant trees. This way you can help the environment.
Another way you can make a difference is to use a "green pc". If you are looking for a new laptop try one of these energy saving, good for the environment computers. If you already own a computer, make sure you put it on "energy star" in order to save the most energy as possible. Obviously we live in a technologically demanding world and the use of computers is necessary. Just try to be more economically conscience of the settings that it offers.
More and more automobile companies are releasing hybrid versions of their most popular cars. Not only due to the fact that gas and oil prices are skyrocketing, but also because they are economically friendly to the environment. They may be a bit more expensive but when you think of the current gas prices you may be saving a lot more than you think plus they help the environment.
The final point is that you should reduce your overall energy consumption by turning off the lights, the computer and the television. If you are going to bed, why leave the computer or TV on? Be wise with your energy consumption, save a few dollars and help out the environment.
