WES achieve Environmental standard

In order to help reduce our carbon footprint and become more environmentally aware, WES has recently signed up to the BS8555 environmental standard. BS8555 is a 6 stage process which leads to full ISO 14001 accreditation. Over the last 6 months our Quality Manager, Andy Nurse, has attended the CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) course required to enable WES to reach stage 3 of the process (click here to view our CIWEM certificate) .
"This is an important step forward for us as a company" explains Andrew Hosking (MD) "the impact that manufacturing has on the environment is widely publicised, and we want to do our bit to reduce and offset the effect of our activities".
During 2007 WES also signed up to the EnVision project and received an audit of our current environmental performance including a 'cost saving environmental action plan'.
"This plan has helped us to target the biggest areas for improvement and make some fundamental alterations to the way we operate" adds Mr Hosking.
WES intend to have the full ISO 14001 accreditation by the end of 2008.
