People often underestimated the importance of goal setting, don't be one of them. Wouldn't it be great if you were handed a map that CLEARLY illustrates where you can find buried treasure? Well, start goal setting and you'll have the equivalent. When you set CLEAR, SPECIFIC goals, you become excited by knowing EXACTLY how to get to the treasure!...

Leaving you to just have to follow the map.

"But goal setting is so hard", I hear you say...

Yeah it can be SOMETIMES, but the more and more you do it, the easier it becomes. But more importantly, it'll eventually become a habit! And, instead of looking at goal setting as a tedious task, you'll start to enjoy doing it! Besides, the mere fact that it isn't 'easy', should encourage you because life is 'designed' in a way that the easier things DON'T yield the greatest results!

The majority of people on this planet DON'T set goals, and guess what?... the majority of people's life's AREN'T where they want it to be. So let me give you a tip...

A good rule of thumb is, to use the 'majority' as a CONTRARY. So, if the majority don't support goal setting, you do the OPPOSITE!
So basically, we need to set goals to achieve success, but...

Do you know what you want to be successful at?

LET'S GET IT IN PERSPECTIVE

It should be obvious by now, I'm all for goal setting. However, it's important that your goal setting is put into some sort of logical perspective, in other words - PRIORITISE your goals. Can you see my point? NO...

OK, I'll quickly explain...

Does it make sense to go out and buy a car stereo BEFORE you own a car? You obviously need to put first things FIRST! When it comes to planning your DREAM life, getting first things first is CRUCIAL. Many people overlook the important of strengthening their foundational values, BEFORE even thinking about following self improvement strategies. This is often the route cause of successes and failures in life!...

In short, make strengthening your foundations your FIRST priority, it might not sound fun, but it is incredibly worthwhile. I guarantee, you'll thank yourself for doing it, just don't forget who told you to do it! ;-)

Onwards and upwards...

In wrapping up this article, I'll quickly pinpoint what elements a good plan should have...

Your desired outcome or goal. Ideally this should be broken up into smaller goals, with each being clear and precise! For example, I want to be retired by the age of 40 with 2 million pounds in the bank and mortgage free. Attaining your goals should be logical, structured and more importantly, believable!

Consider this...

Living a meaningful, abundant, passionate, EXTRAORDINARY life stands head and shoulders above any other goals you can set in your life. So, I suggest you focus your time and energies on that!

Before you begin goal setting, make it a priority to get Ishmail Downes' extraordinary FREE audio course "Live Your DREAM Life!". In it, he talks about setting goals for every department of your life, but this is goal setting with a difference. Check it out...
