Help Raise Your Own Self-EsteemSubmitted by gonzaga.marco Mon, 15 Dec 2008
People with low self-esteem see themselves beneath a shadow of eternal self-doubt. Plagued with adverse notions and feelings about their own personage, they always see themselves lagging behind others, thinking that they would not measure up to anyone and would always be second best or probably much worse than that. What they do not realize is that being on the negative side about one's own individuality does not only cast a dark cloud over one's persona, but it also makes one highly susceptible to depression and anxiety, which is often treated with the most popular antidepressant available in online drugstores.
If you are among this unfortunate population, then it is high time that you make that important leap of turning your self-esteem around for your own benefit. Although our self-esteem is a product of how we are brought up and how others regard us, we take up half the responsibility for it because it is “ours” to begin with. Even if life had not been very kind to you, and you grew up surrounded by people who did nothing but make you feel how insignificant we are, you still stand a very good chance of upholding your self-esteem. How? Well, for starters, you have to bear in mind that no amount of adverse influence or ideas would ever lodge itself in your head without your permission. Though most of us are hardly aware of it, but the truth is that we truly hold our lives in our hands, and this gives us the power to make the necessary changes. But first, we must acknowledge that change can only begin if we let it happen. To help you begin, here are some important pointers you must keep in mind. For every accomplishment you make, whether it be big or small, congratulate yourself. You ought to treat yourself to a small (or a big one, as long as it doesn't burn a hole through your pocket) reward for a job well done. Instead of hating and blaming yourself for not being such and such, concentrate on your good qualities and develop them further. Bear in mind that you deserve as much praise as everybody else. Enjoy yourself by taking part in fun activities you like. Love your body by taking very good care of it. Nourish it properly with the right food, and exercise regularly to keep yourself fit and healthy. When things don't turn out the way you intended, quit the habit of condemning yourself or blaming yourself non-stop. Remember that you are only human. Try making up for it or doing better next time instead of punishing yourself relentlessly for your mistakes.
