improve your brain improve your lifeSubmitted by jenny wilson Fri, 10 Jul 2009
Brains are just as valuable as bodies when it comes to boosting our fitness. Latest findings in neuroscience and brain imaging techniques have let us see enoughfor us to in reality watch a living, learning brain in movement. We are opening up the secrets of memory, awareness, thinking and problem solving. There is little uncertainty that this new data will be veryinfluential in the way we school, gain knowledge of and build up the condition of our lives. The more we appreciate about what the brain needs to experience in order to ‘live long and prosper' the more we can form different, beneficial ways of life that will keep us in top form mentally and emotionally during our lives.
Here are the Top 3 Tips for boosting your brain power and improving your life. 1. Do something fresh. Every birthday set yourself a new learning promise and find a lesson or workshop that really appeals to you and get going to learn something new. Everything that you have thought of in the earlier as a transient hobby - take it up now. Jewellery making, car mechanics, Spanish, yoga, weight training, scrapbooking.... It doesn't matter what it is as long as it stimulates your curiousity and gives you delight. A questioning and happy brain is a well one! 2. Sleep well. Brains are industrious - all the time! Not surprisingly they get worn-out and they need an adequate amount good quality time-out to allow them to work at their top rate. There is the old saying about having to have 8 hours sound sleep a night - which is spot on for many folks - but take into account that you are distinctive and you may need something atypical. Next time you are on local holiday take off your watch, hideyour laptop and mobile and just let your own body rhythms dictate what you do and when you be asleep. You will quickly find out what works smoothly for you then you can start using that that into your everyday life. Don't take short cuts with your rest - your brain really needs it. 3. Do "neurobic" exercises. As part of the new data we are gaining about the brain and how it works neurobiologist Lawrence Katz of Duke University has made up the idea of doing ‘neurobics' as well as aerobics in our daily health routines. They are fun and can mean that you do things like showering in the dark, trying out wearing your watch on the opposite arm for a while, using your non dominant hand to brush your teeth.... Crazy - but good for you. Enjoy!
