Scenario:

You either kill some bad guys or come across some dead bodies.

First thing is if you want to search them you’ll want to post proper security. Let the other members in your group know what you’re doing… just in case friends show up or anything unusual happens. If there are a couple dead guys in an open area is it worth exposing yourself to a possible ambush? Depending on the duration and type of disaster the procedures will be very different.


If for instance there is violence and conflict happening in the streets due to war; expect the possibility of ambushes and booby trapped dead bodies. A simple grenade without a pin under the body does it every time. One solution to avoid booby trapped bodies is to tie a loop of long 550 cord around person's foot, hand, or neck and drag them a bit. Also be wary of a "dead" body with their hands on a rifle or underneath them as they may be faking it.


If on the other hard a natural disaster occurs (excluding a pandemic) and there isn’t any fighting in the streets, you can be sure the bodies are safe to search. In the event of a pandemic you’ll most certainly want to avoid all dead bodies at all costs.

When searching bodies, be sure to check pockets, gear and clothing. If for any reason you don't have time to search the body (enemies approaching, hazardous surrounding etc.), remove the clothing by undressing or cutting and stuffing EVERYTHING into a waiting pack to thoroughly search at a secure place.
