One Man Leader or Is It-00-6240

In the business world, very little can be done alone. As a rule, to translate the vision into reality, to come into contact with other people and structural units. Successful career in the organization is assisted by several specific abilities. We call them "distributed leadership". They have the ability to anticipate, interpret the situation, ingenuity and ability to establish relationships.

Key capabilities for distributed leadership is a capability to work. Work organizations primarily been easier: all controlled by managers. They decide what to do, give instructions, ensure that all is correct. When a subordinate or between structural units filled with conflict, managers responsible for their resolution. The boundaries between the two companies were clear.

Many aspects of the administrative-command of the world now, even theoretically not suited to current realities. Information and control will be increasingly distributed in organizations. The boundaries between enterprises will become increasingly blurred. There are new ways to manage relationships between people, organizations and activities.

What will be the management in this new world? Increasingly, you will have to decide where your place in the wide expanse of centralization, and to move in that range. Some decisions will be centralized, others - decentralized, and some will vary.

Successful career in the organization is assisted by several specific abilities. For several years my colleagues and I taught a course on such abilities. We call it a seminar on distributed, or dispersed, leadership. Distributed leadership - is that the organization can be done anywhere in the top, bottom, or somewhere in the middle of the organizational structure. Purpose of this seminar - to help people develop the four main skills, which we believe to be important for the dispersal of leadership: the ability to anticipate, interpret the situation, resourcefulness and ability to establish relationships.

One thing is for sure, the world as we know it is changing and shall continue to change even more further. The real question are we going to be prepared to deal with it ever changing nature, we have to manage how to adapt to the change and make it profitable for our future careers and ourselves, but so far we continue to demonstrate the stubbornness and reluctance to accept the change.
