What is Executive Coaching?

Submitted by John Petersons
Thu, 7 Jan 2010

Executive Coaching could also be called training in interpersonal skills. All organizations succeed because of excellent team work. The person coordinating the team has to be a mix of team leader, human psychologist, motivator, supporter and disciplinarian, to name a few functions. This is a lot of different hats for one person to wear at once! Successful team leaders wear all of them and some more we may have missed.

Organizations these days are engaging in Executive Coaching. Executive Coaching is a carefully constructed series of consultations which are conducted by a third party resource. The trainer or faculty will conduct this coaching either in-house (in the organization itself) or at another premises over a time period of anything from a couple of months to a year or more. This coaching is simply consultation where the trainer suggests some effective and newly learned ways to increase the executive's productivity in a positive and practical way. This is not therapy, though coaches have been known to advise therapy in certain cases to remove blockages in the person concerned.

Organizations who have hired executive coaches have reported high returns on the money spent, because the process really works. This is because the coaching is customized to meet the client's own requirements and it really improves the executive's productivity.

Executive coaching is tailored to generate better interpersonal skills, improve attitude, make executives more inward looking so that they can improve productivity, identity blockages to profitability and run the team and organization in a more effective way.

Today, career executive coaching is right for your firm if you are going through a transitional period or if you want to help your management team with their skills and motivation.
