Power of Setting and Achieving Goals in Your Personal and Business Life – Part 2Submitted by MarkVictorHansen
In part 1, we covered steps one through five in our ultimate goal achievement plan. Those steps included doing a brain-dump, finding your motivation, breaking down goals, and setting a timeline. Now we’ll look at how you can continue to build on and focus on achieving those goals.
Step 6: Write a Short List of the Goals You Want to Start Working on Now In this step you will determine the goals you want to embark on now. This is the beginning point. This is where you will start. Be careful to select just a few. It is better to put your energy into a few things rather than trying to spread it over many. Step 7: Write a Visualization Statement for Each of Your Prioritized Goals This step will assist in breaking your current life pattern. It will give a reason for you to break that habit pattern to include in it the new goals that you have outlined. It will start to build mental energy to keep your mind on the goal. Step 8: Give Yourself Full Permission to Achieve Your Goal Hopefully, by now you really want to do the goals you have outlined, especially the short list. There may be some hesitancy; if so, be sure to do this step. The fear of success is a crippling fear. So is the fear of failure. You will make mistakes or even have some failures along the way. Use each as a learning opportunity and press on. Step 9: Do it! Launch! Begin now! Make supporting plans. Make a scorecard and track your progress. Read your vision statement for the goal. Adjust it and make it even better than the first time you wrote it. Adjust goals as you learn more about them. Simplify the plan where you can. It is a dynamic process. The most important thing is to stick with it! Step 10: Celebrate! Celebrate the interim achievements in the process of accomplishing the goal. This will build your confidence that the end goal can be achieved. Share the goal with others. Let them celebrate the achievement with you. Step 11: Start on the Next Set of Goals Repeat the process.
