Should We Leave Our Comfort Zone? | ForexTradingLifestyleSubmitted by lenjen1386 Wed, 29 Apr 2009
It's hard to step out of our comfort zones. We all like to stay in a constant environment that makes us feel happy and secured. This comfort zone we all enjoy is invisible but we do know that it exists. We have set boundaries around it and as long as we stay inside the walls of our comfort zones, we will continue to feel safe and secure.
Why did I bring this up? Last night, a former colleague called me asking for advice. She wanted to quit her 2-year stint as a pre-school teacher. She said that the children were draining the life out of her and fears that one day, she will fear having children running around her. However, my friend is afraid that if she quits and tries something else aside from teaching kids, she might not do as well as she performs as a teacher. She thinks that stepping out of her "comfort zone" may be a wrong decision. As I listened, I practically rolled my eyes several times. This is not the first time that she came crying over her job. I told her to think it over (and over) since many people are actually out of jobs and she may find it hard to find another job. So we said goodbye and this morning, I thought of what she said about leaving her comfort zone. I wonder how many people out there stepped out of their comfort zones. Did they make it? Did they achieve what they wanted to do after leaving their comfort nests? Well, it turns out that we, as a person, need to expand our comfort zones. Our comfort zone equals our joy zone, our love zone, our fulfillment zone, our spiritual connection zone etc. It determines the type of friends we make or people we associate with. It determines a life style we accept or reject. T. Harv Eker, author of The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind said that our comfort zone is equals to our money zone, Thus, to have more money in our lives, we must expand our comfort zone. And I guess that is what most people in forex trading did. My boss, Scott along with thousands of traders out there got into forex trading not because of money's lure but they wanted to move out of their comfort zones and be more than what they are/were. Here is what experts recommend to do whenever we seek to expand our comfort zone: * Imagine the change we want. * Build an expectation of the change. * Mentally and emotionally, prepare ourselves for the change by anticipating what it will be like. Now that I have established that staying within our comfort zone is not healthy, it's time for us to exert some effort and do little things daily that is beyond this zone. And though we all like to stay in a constant environment, expanding the current condition of our comfort zone will make us grow, though uncomfortable, but the rewards are worth it!
There's not much to tell. Other people's lives seem more interesting than mine. Currently, I am writing for ForexTradingLifestyle. Then I go out to see the world around me. Have fun reading through my articles!
