People usually celebrate this day by wearing green; cute and funny Irish t-shirts, apparel with famous sayings (I`m Irish), printed shirts with Irish beer moniker, accessories such as mouse pads, teddy bears, Paddy mugs; eating Irish food and attending parades.

Green is generally preferred as this is the national color of Ireland and is the color associated with Irish people. On this day, people usually paint streets for the parade with green stripes; wear green shirts, tie, ribbons and hats. This day is basically themed around Irish related things such as Irish music, Irish parade, drinks at Irish Club and more.
