When asking what is the divine gift of reincarnation -- you may come up with many definitions as to what reincarnation means to you.

The definition that I allude to here is that reincarnation is the vast rhythmic process by which the soul in man unfolds its spiritual powers in the world of form and gets to know itself.

The Egyptians believed in reincarnation or the transmigration of the soul. It is taught side-by-side with Pantheism, the belief that everything is God and God is everything.

Reincarnation and Pantheism are the central doctrines of Hinduism and occultism, variations of which have grown popular in the Western world in recent decades.

The concept appeals to Western "religious" thinking, such as the New Age philosophies, because the life cycle concept provides people with unlimited chances to get life right.

According to Edgar Cayce, in the Book entitled, 'Edgar Cayce, Modern Prophet,' the beliefs of Origen expoused reincarnation. Further, during this time reincarnation was accepted and referenced as part of the scriptures found in the Bible.

However, during the sixth century, the Byzantine Emperor Justinian and his wife Theodora, through murder and mayhem, had the doctrines of reincarnation removed from the Roman Bible due to their selfish and egotistical desires.

In John 3:3: Jesus tells Nicodemus that to see the Kingdom of God one must be "born again. Reincarnation in John 9:1-3: This scripture tells of a man born blind and deals with the question of whose sin was the cause of his blindness.

The Biblical texts that seem to imply reincarnation the most convincingly are the following: 1) Matthew 11,14 and 17,12-13, concerning the identity of John the Baptist) John 9,2, "Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind.

Belief in reincarnation, the idea that an essential part of a living being can survive death and later be reborn in a new body, is an ancient doctrine that has persisted for thousands of years.

Reincarnation as a healing tool in Western cultures have been conditioned to treat it as a mystery which must not be explored because the doctrine forbids it as a belief which is based on irrational superstition, or as an oriental abberation born of centuries of misled paganism.

However, reincarnation is once again attracting the minds of intellectuals and the general public in the West. According to Rav Michael Laitman, PhD, 'Reincarnation is a real phenomenon that can be perceived through experimentation in the science of Kabbalah.'

To some, reincarnation is the process you go through in your path to enlightenment. If it's real, it does not require your belief in it. Do you have a choice regarding what happens after you die?
