Controlling your life

Submitted by farouk

Confident people are the ones who feel in control of their lives. Loss of control over one's life is always associated with feelings of helplessness followed by depression.

Finding yourself not in control of situations over regular basis can let you form false beliefs that limit your potential such as "I am no good" or "There is no way out".

The tremendous amount of confidence you will feel as a result of feeling in control of your life can not be described by words but it can only be felt. In this article I will tell you how to regain control of your life so that you boost your self confidence levels.

Loss of control can help you be more in control

We feel in control of a situation if we believed that we have a possible solution to the problem we are facing. That's why you would never panic if your computer hanged because you know that you could simply restart it but if it hanged before saving your important work then you will feel that you lost control.

The most important fact about regaining control that most people don't know is that situations that make you feel helpless can be your source of regaining more control of your life!!

Few months ago I had an acne outbreak that had no reason!! (after all I am not a teen anymore!!) at the beginning I felt helpless but as i started reading online I discovered that my diet was the main cause of the acne. I made major changes to my diet and within few weeks the acne disappeared.

That situation made me feel even more in control because I felt that the acne disappeared as a the result of the actions I took.

Feeling helpless is an opportunity

What I want to say is that the situations that make you feel helpless are actually golden opportunities for regaining control provided that you act correctly.

In order to regain control of your life you must stick to the following steps:

* Free some time: As soon as you encounter a situation that makes you feel helpless free some time so that you can solve the problem. One of the main reasons people feel helpless is that they accumulate their problems as a result of not having time (for example, saying i am too busy working!!)

* Start learning!!: When I broke my right arm I used to spend hours each day reading about bone recovery and healing methods. You must learn more about the problem you are facing by reading, asking people or contacting experts.

* Act right away: The faster you respond the less helpless you will feel and the more in control you will become. Don't wait for months before you take action but strike back as fast as you can and you will feel much more in control

People feel helpless because they keep accumulating problems without trying to solve them. Sometimes they try to give excuse for not doing anything by saying that they simply don't know what to do, this is where the role of learning comes!!

With each problem that you face you can learn a new skill, read a new book or know new facts that you have never knew otherwise.

In order to regain control of your life you must find time, learn then act.
