Saving in a Generous Way

Submitted by jax44

Most people are finding money harder to come by these days, so should think about saving more when they do have it.

Many people have things around their house that they no longer use and they could sell these things to make some extra money. One way to do this is by having a good old garage sale. A garage or yard sale is a good idea for a person who has a lot of extra things that they consider junk but other people may consider treasure.

Finding ways to save money isn't as easy as you probably thought before budgeting. You probably started with a strict budget but then quickly realized that budgeting is boring and doesn't allow much fun in your life. Just because budgeting means you can't spend as much money as you used to, it doesn't mean you can't still enjoy one of your favourite pastimes, watching movies. All you need to do is register with the site, browse titles, and choose which movies you would like to watch, pay for it and download it. That's it! You can then sit back and enjoy. How much does this save you? Depending on where you live and the type of movie theatre you usually go to, you could be saving good amount for the movie and even more if you buy popcorn, drinks and candy.

One way to think about not saving money is buying gifts for other people though. Christmas presents, secret santa gifts and other main celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, mitzvah's, bar and bat, and other holidays should be a time of generosity. A nice rc helicopter for your nephew may be just what he wanted. It might sound strange, but some people are really into that kind of thing.

How else can you save? Perhaps you can take one week where you allow yourself to spend whatever you want, and then on another week say ‘no' to every luxury. Write everything down that you spend, and you will see how easy it is to save.

You could also stop eating out, and rather alternate dinner evenings at friends houses, so each of you take turns to cook, and spend much less on food, taxis and drink.
