A Phone For Everybody

Submitted by Christine Layug

One of the most popular Cellular Philippine Phone like by many Filipinos today is the Nokia 1100s. Although the phone lacks in sophisticated technology commonly associated with today's phones, such as the capability to capture pictures and videos as well as browse the internet on their mobile phones, the phone is still considered as one of the most bestselling mobile phone across the world. Why is that? One reason is because of its affordability.

Compared to those Nseries or the popular iPhone, the Nokia 1100s are primarily made to target developing countries, such as that of the Philippines, and users who do not require advanced features beyond making calls and SMS text messages, alarm clock, reminders, etc. Other features include a built-in flash light, compatibility with Xpress-On covers, dustproof keypads and front face, 50-message capacity, contacts storage (capacity 50, with the ability to assign different tones and icons to different contacts), and games (Snake II and Space Impact+).

Although Nokia 1100s lack in sophistication, the model was still considered as the bestselling mobile phone up to this year. Over 200 million Nokia 1100 cellphones have been sold since its launch in late 2003, making it the world's best selling phone handset, as well as the best Cellular Philippine Phone. The Nokia 1100s is also the best selling consumer electronics device in the world, beating Sony's Playstation 2 (138 million), Apple's iPod (170 million) and Motorola's RAZR (120 million).

Nokia 1110
The Nokia 1110 has also been released which is similar to the Nokia 1100s. It was released in 2005 in which, similar to Nokia 1100, was targeted to developing countries as well as for first-time cell phone users. In Nokia's view, the 1110i Cellular Philippine Phone has the advantage of ease-of-use, reliability and a low price. As of January 2007, the 1110 was being sold by Nokia as their basic low-end monochrome model. One of its key markets is that of developing countries. In May 2007, it has been superseded by the Nokia 1200. Features include:

* Speaking alarm and clock
* Analog clock display
* Icon-based phonebook with simplified menu navigation
*

* Picture messaging to send a picture greeting
* Easy deletion of multiple messages
* 5 hrs battery talktime
