Bus Full Of Flowers In Dangwa

Looking for some philippine flower shops that sells the best collection of flowers and flower arrangements? Well, when it comes to the best place to look for philippine flower shops, there isn't any better place than to visit the Dangwa Flower Market in the heart of Manila. Dangwa Flower Market, or more commonly known as simply Dangwa, is a flower market found in the heart of Metro Manila that became a very popular spot for flower vendors as well as buyers.

One of the many popular features of the flower market is the number of its vendors. Dangwa is composed of more than 50 stalls set-up along Dos Castillas and other parallel streets in Dimasalang, Sampaloc, Manila. The one reason why many ManileƱos and other people gather around Dangwa is because of its relatively cheaper prices of flowers than those found in malls and in shopping centers. Prices of flowers in the area are both negotiable and affordable. On a regular day, roses can be bargained for as low as P50 a dozen. During special occasions like Valentine's Day and All Souls' Day, however, prices of key products have been known to soar by as much as six times.

History
The flower market was said to have started on 1976. The market was then surrounded by middle-class neighborhoods. Before it was known as Dangwa the flower market, the street was already known as Dangwa, but as a bus terminal named as Dangwa Transport terminal. It was then called Dangwa Flower Market when vendors started to sell flowers on the streets, building up stalls, as well as decorating the place (which was the project of former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza) to look more like a flower market than a bus station.

Historical Moments
During the 80's and the 90's, the market has surpassed the fame of competitors in Quiapo, Manila and Baclaran. One of the most popular historical event happened in Dangwa was during the time when Imelda Marcos was the First Lady. At that time the market provided flowers for big flower shops which in turn decorated the Malacanang Palace.

It's Popularity
The flower market didn't only become popular mainly because of its cheaper flowers as well as the number of philippine flower shops selling flowers, but because of the variety of flowers found in the market. Flowers sold in Dangwa originate from various locations all over the country such as La Trinidad (Benguet, Baguio), Davao City, Tagaytay City, Cotabato City and Laguna. The market has also expanded to importing flowers from Thailand, Holland and Ecuador.
