Cutting the Ribbon Towards SuccessSubmitted by jeffbabasa Sun, 21 Dec 2008
They say that a birthday party wouldn’t be complete without someone blowing some candles on a cake. Cakes have been around for generations, and through the years it has been modified and upgraded to satisfy the growing craving for the most unique kinds of cakes.
Unlike the older times in which cakes are only made by those professional bakers because of its sophisticated process. Baking a cake is now made easier because of baking equipment and directions have been simplified that even the most amateur cook may bake a cake. But because of the need for quality premium cakes and pastries, bakeshops are still in need for this purpose. There are a lot of popular names under the category of “Bakeshop”, and one of those is the Red Ribbon Bakeshop. Red Ribbon Bakeshop, or simply called Red Ribbon, is a Philippine based chain of bakeshops that provides some of the most luxurious and scrumptious collection of cakes and pastries across the country. Other than cakes and pastries, Red Ribbon is also popular for offering different kinds of Italian and Filipino dishes such as Lasagna, deep fried chickens, carbonara, palabok, and spaghetti. Red Ribbon isn’t only known throughout the Philippine, but of other countries, especially those locations where Filipinos mostly work and live such as in the United States. But where did the success of Red Ribbon came from? And when did it first started? Red Ribbon is a bakeshop based in the Philippines that first opened its doors to the public in 1979, in Quezon City, along Timog Avenue. This first branch of Red Ribbon started as a hobby-induced business that grew steadily over time. Because of this success, the founders of Red Ribbon decided on expanding their visions by opening a branch in another country. In 1984, Red Ribbon opened their first US branch in West Covina, California which is also where Filipinos commonly migrate. To expand their business even more, the founders decided on starting on franchising the Red Ribbon Bakeshop which started in 1999. But that didn’t stop there. In October 2005, Red Ribbon was acquired by Jollibee Foods Corporation, a conglomerate of popular fast-food chains in the Philippines. With its acquisition by Jollibee Foods Corporation, Red Ribbon entered a new phase in its company history. According to its website, the company will soon become the biggest and fastest-growing bakeshop in the Philippines. Its mission is to bring the joy of eating to everyone through its great-tasting food and superior quality.
