When it comes to the best philippine flower shops, anyone would likely find it in a place that many Filipino call as Dangwa Flower Market. Dangwa Flower Market is popular place in the heart of Manila known for its number of flower shops selling wide array of flowers from local to foreign species of flowers. So what made Dangwa very popular?

The Start
Many have speculated that Dangwa Flower Market, which is located in along Dos Castillas and other parallel streets in Dimasalang, Sampaloc, Manila, started on 1976. At that time, Dangwa weren't known as a flower market, but only as a street in which small flower vendors have started their own businesses of selling flowers. Also, Dangwa weren't used to describe a flower market in Manila but as a bus terminal station situated on that same street, which is why people have also used the term Dangwa to indicate that street.

The Growth
But as years pass by, several flowers shops have stated to open in the streets. An in no time, the street were full of philippine flower shops selling different kinds of flowers and floral arrangements. And during the 80's and the 90's, the market have already surpassed the fame of competitors in Quiapo, Manila and Baclaran. It is even said that the market's golden years is during the time when Imelda Marcos was the First Lady. At that time the market provided flowers for big flower shops which in turn decorated the Malacanang Palace.

Dangwa of Today
Dangwa of today have changed so much, particularly when the previous Manila Mayor Lito Atienza beautified the street to look more like a flower market than just a simple street. On 1994, the philippine flower shops also became open for 24 hours due to the increasingly growing business. The advent of modern technology, specifically Short message service or "texting" has improved communication and efficiency in transporting the flowers from rural farmers. SMS is also used to prevent losses since the flower dealers can tip the farmers to what flowers would be in demand.
