Injury and illness are becoming prevalent in the workplace and based on historical data, it is set to increase at an alarming rate. Musculoskeletal disorders, vision and hearing problems are some of the most common forms of injuries at workplace. Historically, occupational health was only associated with industries dealing in hazardous material but this is no longer true. People working in today’s sophisticated work environment are prone to musculoskeletal injuries. Some of the contributing reasons for rise in such injuries are improper seating posture and unscientifically designed seating equipment. Training may not be a panacea for addressing such risk factors, but will be a step in the right direction, to help inculcate proper seating habits. Also many people perceive sitting as a way to relax, but this is not entirely true as it puts a lot of stress on your back. This factor can be taken care off by use of ergonomically designed seating equipment.

The human musculoskeletal system is made up of support structures such as bones, ligaments, tendons and muscles. Repetitive stress to these support structures can result in injuries, some of which are mentioned below.

• Carpal tunnel syndrome.
• Tendonitis.
• Bursitis.
• Muscle strain affecting neck, shoulders and lower back.

Ergonomic seating equipment is designed to give maximum comfort and convenience to the user. It provides support to the lumbar region, facilitates correct spinal alignment and reduces repetitive stress. This helps in reducing musculoskeletal disorders to a great extent. On the other hand, traditional stools are not designed with human body mechanics in mind. They therefore end up producing a lot of discomfort to the user’s body.

Ergonomic stools are best suited for space and mobility requirements. Ergonomic stools therefore combine the benefits of unlimited range of motion and convenient spacing. They come in various shapes and sizes such as chair stools, industrial stools, lab stools, work stools, etc. and can also be customized to cater to a wide variety of performance options.

Ergonomically designed stools make sitting an enjoyable experience. It not only boosts productivity of the workforce but also increases the quality of output. With varied options and unmatched benefits, an ergonomic stool is truly a best buy option.
