5 Tips for Choosing a Hard Metal BriefcasesSubmitted by jbiberdorf Thu, 22 Apr 2010
Choosing the right briefcase can be a big decision in your business career. It serves as your mobile office when you are on the go, it protects your business materials, and it adds to the image you project to those around you. While you may be tempted to rush out and buy the first inexpensive case that you find, you really should take some time to consider whether or not it is the right case for your needs.
1. Size The first thing to consider is the size of your briefcase. Depending on your business, and what you are going to be doing with your case, the size you choose can be an important factor. If you are simply transporting documents, or are carrying a minimum of business tools, you may be able to get away with using a slimmer model of briefcase. If you are including your laptop, it may be necessary to consider a mid-sized case. The good news is, there are many options in size available. From slim document cases, to larger cases for travel or sample cases, you will be able to find what best suits your needs. 2. Weight The weight of your case is also a consideration. If you are going to be spending a lot of time carrying your briefcase around you do not want the additional weight of a heavy-duty case. You should consider going with a lighter weight aluminum case that will provide durability without a lot of additional weight. On the other hand, if you are in a business like construction where your case gets banged around a lot, you should consider one of the heavy-duty cases. These do have more weight, but the added protection you get is well worth the extra effort to carry these cases. 3. Interior Every persons needs are different. You need to look at several different briefcases to be sure the one you choose has the features you really need. For instance, you may or may not need a laptop compartment. If you do not need it, it doesn't make sense to waste the interior space by purchasing a case deigned to hold a computer. It is a matter of personal need and preference whether your briefcase has document holders, or more open space. You may want to choose a case that has a lot of smaller interior compartments that hold necessary office supplies. You will need to think through the features that are important before you spend too much time looking at briefcases. 4. Color One advantage that metal briefcases have over some of the other materials is the flexibility you get in color choices. While some choose to go for the silver-metallic look, you could also choose black, gold colored, even wood-grain exteriors. This gives you the ability to choose a case that projects the image that you want. 5. Material The material you choose for your briefcase will have a huge impact on how your case performs. While some materials like vinyl or canvass are very lightweight, you compromise on durability and ease of care. Some plastics are very inexpensive, but they do not last very long, and are prone to scratches and cracking. In order to get a case that is durable and functional you should check out some of the different styles of hard metal briefcases that are on the market. They typically outlast and outperform their cheaper counterparts. Before you rush out and purchase the first briefcase you come across, you should spend some time researching all of your options. When you consider all of these 5 tips you will have a much clearer idea of which briefcase will best meet your needs.
