Astoreforbeauty - We Added A Blog!Submitted by Michael Hatfield Thu, 4 Jun 2009
I am proud to say that I have extended our website network even further. Most might recognize this new website as a template as well, and yes it is. But graphic design has not always been my forte, some of you who have seen other website, www(dot)winwinhost(dot)com might have noticed. But I promise the entire community of net surfers that There will be great enhancements all across the board, including the design.
The new site that we have added is a play on words to the original, www(dot)astoreforbeauty(dot)com. The "for" is now a "4". I plan on connecting the two sites together in such a way that they will be administered by the same admin system currently being employed. This will have the effect of broadcasting out content to both sites simultaneously. I am a little worried about the content duplication, and the effects it will have with search engines, but over all I think it is a good move for the site, and it better than not having any content at all. Just to make sure everyone is on the same page, I will be referring to two to websites as siblings. Or in more detail, I will call them, sister sites. The sites will be linked in such a way that any new member to either the blog or to the online jewelry store is also a member of the sister site. Now members of the site will eventually be able to publish their own article entries. In fact, users will be encouraged to participiate in the evolution of the jewelry store online. I plan on creating more sites, and adding more features, many of them social in nature. I want customers to be able to leave testimonials, and rate products. I am super concerned with winning the customers repeat business, and making the site a truly fun experience. I believe the web should be fun, and I see great success on social networks like facebook, due to their ability to capitalize on a users downtime. Many times a day, when I have an extra minute, I sneak a peak at facebook, to check up on what's going on, because its fun to read what my friends are saying. I know we shop in a similar matter, during our downtime. And although some people return to check on their order, or submit a contact form, I noticed that most of my users are new. So I want to be more like facebook, whose main customer base is loyal ( or as the as they say, facebook is sticky). Since this is the site whose success I want to duplicate, I decided to add more social features onto my site. I really hope users do decide to contribute content, and that content is good in quality and viable. More than once have I seen a site completely ravaged by spam. Those ideas are still down the road, and as of yet users don't have a ‘status' which broadcast out to all, but they will have the ability to create their own blog posts.
