Most people will agree that a diamond says a thousand words. Most guys however, have no idea where to even begin when buying a diamond engagement ring, there are just so many stresses involved! Will she like it? What if she thinks its too cheap? What will look best on her hand? What will her friends think? Well, choosing a diamond is a little like choosing an outfit, you want to find something nice, affordable, well fitting, and appealing. Hopefully you will be more prepared after reading what I've come up with.
If you start your quest for an engagement ring unprepared for all the turns it can take, you may as well scream disaster now. There are many things to consider when purchasing an engagement ring. One thing to remember is that this ring is not for you, it is for your finance to cherish for years to come so you will want something suitable for your partner.
One term that will pop up all over the place when you're searching for your engagement ring is ideal cut. When you hear this term it basically means that this diamond was cut specifically to highlight the diamond's positives and make the negatives less prominent, even if it took more work and money to do so.
More people than you would think Don't know the differences between diamond cuts. A diamond's shape or cut is also an important aspect to your shopping. The most popular shape for wedding rings these days are round cut diamonds, but they also come in square or rectangle cuts, oval cuts, pear shaped cuts, and heart shape cuts. Of the round diamonds the most well known and best one to buy is the brilliant cut, but we'll have to touch base more on the different types of cuts another time. The main thing you need to know is that the reason brilliant cuts are so popular are because of their many faces.
The main things to know about finding the perfect ring for your sweet heart is one, know your information. There is nothing worse then going shopping for something all day, and coming home empty handed. Do your research and have a budget. Know a rough estimate of how much each kind of ring costs and how much you can spend. Get your partners ring size, one of the most common mistakes a groom to be can make is getting the wrong ring size. Ask a family member or snag one of her other rings (preferably one she doesn't wear often but you know fits her) and find out her ring size. Most importantly, buy from your heart. A diamond is only worth as much as the feelings behind it, and when in doubt, ask a sales representative they can be pretty helpful.
