For many years women have been encouraged to be more androgynous in their clothing and appearance. Short masculine hairstyles, severe black suits with an angular cut and the use of boyish looking models on the cat walks with little to no shape has left women with curves on the side of the unfashionable. Well it looks like this is finally over. There is now a promotion of women with curves and the use of real women in advertising has meant that is getting Ok to be a bit curvy. Even hairstyles are changing with the return of curls to the catwalk and the red carpet. There is a new softness to fashion and along with that is the chance to explore your more feminine side.

However just because you are being more feminine don’t think that you have to compromise your politics and beliefs – you don’t have to have a masculine look to want equal rights for women – in fact surely being yourself and wearing your own individual style is a far cleverer way to put a point across than pretending to be something that you are not is.

So don’t throw out all your clothes, now is the time to update them, think about accessories and explore a side of you that might have been hidden for sometime. Start looking at what you are wearing and perhaps in some instances where you would have work trousers wear a skirt or even a dress.

Not only is it the coolest best thing to wear on a hot summers day but it is also a great way to look smart and if the weather turns you can always wear a cardigan to cover up.
