Fashion For Country WalksSubmitted by kristianphllps Sun, 25 Jan 2009
There is nothing nicer in springtime than to go for country walks. The air is cool and fresh and the weather may be a little tempermental but there is nothing better than getting into the fresh air and blowing away the cobwebs left over from the Christmas break.
However, because of the changeable nature of the British weather it is always difficult to know what to wear. This spring is a great time to invest in clothes that can be layered. Layering is a great way of keeping warm and at the same time looking fashionable. It is also a great way to mix colours and patterns to create a look that evokes the change from winter to spring. This time of year is actually a great time to buy new clothes – there are bargains to be had in the sales and there are new styles and designs that will be functional enough to last you through the entire season. Invest in trousers that can be layered, separates that can be put on top of one another for warmth and for style. Look out for cardigans and jersey tops that are functional (they will keep you warm when there is no sun but still be cool enough to wear on a sunny spring day) and yet stylish (they work well with lots of different outfits) But what sort of colours should you go for when buying spring clothes for country walks? The classic colours of the moment are the earthy colours, browns, greys and beiges all work well at this time of year. Teamed with a green or pink they become something bright and airy which suits the season. Try to head away from black, this is much more of a winter colour and doesn’t really work the same way in spring. Look out for light floral patterns, stripes and spots. These will all suit country walking and make you feel more at one with nature. There are functional trousers which will keep you warm and look good at the same time, wonderful knitwear and fantastic wovens which will allow you to walk without getting a chill. Another way of preparing yourself for country walks is to get lots of accessories. There are some wonderful scarves and jewellery which will give your outfit a bit of sophistication without making it too dressy for walking. Even when walking in the countryside it is nice to make an effort and look at your best!
