What is a tuxedo?
Tuxedo is also known as black tie. In certain parts of the world it is known as dinner jacket. Tuxedo is made up of black coat with lapels, black pants, black bow tie, black socks, black shoes, a black cummerbund and a white shirt. Tuxedos are made up of wool, polyester or wool polyester blends. The number of buttons on the tuxedo is a matter of personal preference; some want more buttons to look fashionable, but a single or dual buttoned jacket is much more traditional

Different styles of Tuxedos:

Single breasted jacket: This jacket can fit any body type and sizes.

Double breasted jacket: Men, who are above 6 feet tall, will look better on this type of jacket.

White dinner jacket: This jacket will go well if you have the luxury of attending a black tie affair in a tropical climate.

Difference between Regular suit and Tuxedos
• Suits can be worn at work during the day, while a tuxedo is suitable for a semi-formal evening occasion.
• Tuxedos are relatively a flamboyant affair. The satin lapel and satin stripes run down the outside legs of the pants. While suits are a staid affair. The lapel will be of the same cloth as the rest of the suit, with no embellishments on either the jacket or pants.
• Tuxedos are available in one button, while suit have two or three buttons.
• Tuxedos have pointed lapels as opposed to notch labels of suits.

Mistakes made while wearing a tuxedo:
• While wearing a tuxedo, men generally place cummerbund around their waist with the pleats facing down.
• Pleats were designed to face up and were used to hold theater tickets.

Accessories worn with a tuxedo

Bow tie:
Three bow tie options are available. First is the pre-tied bow tie. Second is the actual bow tie and the last is the black tie. Black tie is best suited for an evening occasion which has a younger crowd.

Cufflinks:
Cufflinks should be silver or stainless steel which doesn't attract too much attention. To get an ultra stylish look, wear a white silk pocket square in the breast pocket of your tuxedo.

Shoes:
The stylish look of a tuxedo needs to be matched with equally classy shoes. The lace-up style and slip on type are the two types of shoes that will give a perfect look to your tuxedo. You can choose any of the two based on your preference.

Cummerbunds & Waist coats:
These will add a modern touch to your tuxedos. But both cannot be worn at the same time. Black is the traditional color for vests and cummerbunds. Make sure that the pleats of the cummerbund are upward facing, in case you wear one.

Tuxedo Shirts:
There are two types of tuxedo dress shirts to choose from: Wing collar shirts and flip over collar shirts.
