How to Make Eyes Seem Larger

Submitted by afterglow

Just about everyone has something about their appearance that they don't like. Most women feel self conscious about their eyes and want to make them look larger, darker, brighter, wider or narrower, etc. Not having much time in the morning to get ready is a big problem for most of us, so we don't want to spend an hour on our hair and makeup just to go to work and come back home. There are ways to save time and not sacrifice your looks. Below are a few tips to making small to normal eyes seem much larger and brighter.

1) Since it is easier to blend darker colors into lighter colors rather than the other way around, we always begin applying makeup with the lightest color and progress to the darkest. Apply white eye shadow along the brow bone, just under the eyebrow. Lightly dust under the eyes with white shadow, which will deflect sunlight from the creases under the eye and reduce the look of dark circles under the eyes. White shadow really opens the eyes. HINT: The more pronounce the eyebrow arch, the more effective this tactic is. But don't over pluck your brows, as this is ages the face considerably. A nice, accented arch with eyebrows darkened two shades darker than the hair is just right.
2) Apply a soft, neutral or slightly darker shade to the upper eyelids from corner to corner and lash line to crease.
3) Apply the darkest shade of shadow into the outer 2/3 of the crease.
4) With a clean, soft brush blend the shadows into each other for a natural look. blending is the key to a soft, sexy eye.
5) Gently blend in the white shadow under the eye with the foundation. This will give you a natural, bright eyed look.
6) Apply eyeliner from the inner corner to the outer corner of each eye on the upper lid. On the lower lid, get as close as you can to the lash line and apply the liner to the outer 1/3 of the eyelid.
7) Apply mascara and extra coats as needed.

This new look will take time to master, so get some practice before you decide to try it in the morning when you are short on time. Remember than dark colors are less appropriate for daytime than night time. Light colors will help you look younger and more bright eyed than darker. Also keep in mind that fair skinned women with light eyes should steer clear of black liners, as they contrast too harshly with light coloring.
