In the interests of fairness however, we should mention that the child in Singapore was not actually wearing Kids Crocs, but a locally made imitation bearing another brand name, although the design is similar to Kids Crocs’. Kids Crocs have, because of their widespread popularity, been an easy target for the media and have often been mentioned by name when such unfortunate incidents occur. It is important to bear in mind however that other brands that share a similar design are just as prone to these types of incidents as Kids Crocs are.
In any case, the existing escalator designs in many countries are just as much to blame for these incidents and because of this, there have been renewed calls for increased escalator safety measures. Kids Crocs, for their part, are in the midst of designing new tags for their shoes, which include safety tips related to the use of their shoes when riding escalators.
The jury is still out on this particular issue, but in the meantime, it would be a good idea for parents to exercise some vigilance when their kids wear Kids Crocs near escalators or other similar machinery.
