Patek Philippe Watches - Worthy Investments

Time is gold. Figuratively, we all know what this means. Don't waste a minute, every second counts... the whole nine yards. However, if you will take this literally, you can say that there is some truth in it as well. Watches, specifically luxury watches, are worth a lot. They may not be as expensive as an actual gold bar but you get the picture.

One of the best watches, not to mention oldest brands, known all over the world is Patek Philippe. Although Patek Philippe's history can be traced way back in 1839, it took them a while before the brand garnered recognition from watch lovers. It was only in 1868, after they first released their own wristwatch, when the market started noticing the greatness that is Patek Philippe.

Continuing from there, Patek Philippe steadily produced watches such as chronograph, minute repeater, perpetual calendar, and minute repeater. One of the longstanding traditions of Patek Philippe is producing the components of their own watches.

Thanks to the brand's dedication to their watches, Patek Philippe has a great following. Even some of the brand's patrons were of royalty. Back in 1851, Queen Victoria showed her appreciation to Patek Philippe watches when she requested two one-of-a-kind watches be made exclusively for her. These were a watch suspended from a brooch made of diamond and enamel and a key-wound watch worn in a pendant style. Other royalties who adorned the brand were Christian IX, the king of Denmark, Victor-Emanuel III, the king of Italy, and Hussein Kamal, the prince of Egypt.

For its 150th anniversary, Patek Philippe introduced the Calibre 89 to the market. Consisting of 33 complications; some of which are thermometer, time of sunrise, sidereal time, equation of time, date of Easter, and a special feature wherein the watch automatically adds a day to February every leap year. With all these in mind, Calibre 89 was easily recognized as one of the most complex mechanical watches ever made.

Another thing to take note of when talking about Patek Philippe is its Sky Moon Tourbillon, a platinum tourbillion wristwatch sold for HK$11.75 million on April 2008. That would be equivalent to $1.49 million, making the watch the most expensive wristwatch sold. No doubt about it, when it is Patek Philippe, time is gold!

Do you happen to own a Patek Philippe? Granted that it may be one of your prized possessions, if you were able to get it at a good price (for example, you got it from an auction house) and somebody wants to buy it from you for a higher price, why hesitate? Patek Philippe watches are worthy investments. After you make the most of it for years, you can still sell your Patek Philippe watch and earn a generous amount of money.
