The Fossil WatchSubmitted by kishor Mon, 24 Aug 2009
Zodiac is a watchmaking company that goes all the way back to the 19th century and the Swiss watchmaker, Jacob Calame. And today\'s Zodiac Swiss watches are still very old-school in their approach to fashion and design.. The original company was founded in 1888. However, the firm went bankrupt and looked to the US market for funding.
Here is the timeline for the Zodiac: • In 1990, Willy Gad Monnier who once partially owned the well-known brand Tag Heuer, buys the Zodiac brand. He modernized all the current Zodiac models, giving them a Tag Heuer effect. • In 1998, Genender International, Inc, an American company, bought the Zodiac inventory, its trademarks and registrations, and all other assets. This company also makes inexpensive watches such as Smith and Wesson, B.U.M., and Levi. All Point series models, Sea Wolf, and Swiss Formulas were discontinued. Also almost all the automatic and automatic chronographs were discontinued. At this point, Swiss army watches were not made by this company. They kept the marine Life and the Super Sea Wolf but updated them with metal watchbands. • In 2001, Fossil Inc. bought the Zodiac Swiss brand. This company bought three companies in Beinne, Switzerland, (Montres Antima SA ("Antima"), Meliga Habillement Horloger SA ("Meliga") and Synergies Horlogeres SA, ("Synergies"). They bought these companies to provide them with the invaluable Swiss-made indicator. These companies would be for sourcing components, production, and design. Antima, a Swiss company established in 1919 provides designs, sources and assemblies for private label brands. Meliga makes watch components for many very well known Swiss-made manufacturers of wristwatches. Synergies is a Swiss company that develops and designs prototypes. By 2002, Zodiac had introduced the new Zodiac line at the world famous Basel Watch Fair in Switzerland (an annually held fair for the watch and jewellery industry). You can find these newer models on the Zodiac website. Fossil is a company that has influenced the old Swiss look and has always had very fashionable releases. Using the grand design traditions of the Swiss made industry and the modern American fashion industry, Fossil gives watches sassy new looks. They released their first new collection at the 2004 Basel watch Fair, a prestigious annual event. Fossil\'s new look in wrist watches is high fashion at its best. Fossil watches are sporty and modern with beautiful dials, large, impressive housings, and fabulous colors and materials. Perfect for the little and big kid in you. The Zodiac logo has been changed. It is now in the classic Swiss traditional colors of red, white, and black. The logo is easily recognizable, showing up in all the company\'s promotional materials. The company now has a fresh, contemporary look with beautiful designer watches priced and between $150 and $1000 for the younger 18 to 35 year old market. These watches are for people who are into fashion and sports, educated and confident, sophisticated and stylish. Many of these new models are unisex and this is a very attractive feature. The Zodiac logo is very prominent, embossed on the crown, displayed on the case back, and also in relief on the clasp. Have a look at the new kids on an old block. You\'re going to like what you find.
