The Things We Print On

It used to be that just about the only thing that could be printed on easily was paper. Clothes had to be embroidered using a needle and thread. Signs and other things had to be painted by hand. That is definitely not the case today. You can have words, pictures, or both printed on almost anything you can imagine.

Some of the most popular items that have things printed on them these days are coffee mugs, t-shirts, vehicles, ink pens, caps, and the list goes on and on. Most of these items are used for advertising either a business or a particular product. Companies spend millions of dollars every year having these things printed and will either sell them or give them away to promote their business.

We buy clothes off the rack at stores all the time that have any number of things printed on them. This was how we got t-shirts with our favorite rock band or some other silly or serious saying on them. We may wear something like this for years because it is a favorite article of clothing. These days custom printing is a big thing. We can invent our own stuff to say on a shirt or cap and wear it proudly. We might want a picture of our sweetheart or our child on something to display as we walk down the street.

Businesses and a personal item is not all that custom printing is used for. People who are holding events for things like their community, sports, charities, weddings, birthdays, elections, or other things might have certain items printed to promote it. Sometimes these custom printed items are kept as keepsakes to remember something special.

So it would seem that the days when printing was only meant for paper are long gone.
