Big watches, pocket watches, diamond watches, logo watches, team watches. Rolex, Timex, Casio, Citizen, Seiko, Bulova. Give them as gifts, business incentives, corporate awards, marketing strategies. So many types, so many makes and so many reasons to have one. At one time or another we have all owned a watch.

Some, like me, have to have one on at all times. I have one for work and one for casual use with still another for those special occasions. I've had gold and silver and just plain plastic, but I've always had one. How about you?

The first pocket watch was created in the 1500's by Peter Henlein of Germany. In the 1600's watches shaped like animals and various objects became popular. Self winding movements came about around 1780. In the 1800's watch makers Minerva, Heuer, Zenith and Movado were all founded and Greenwich mean time is now used as the official basis of time zones. Although a lot happened in between, in 1999 Casio invents the first watch with a built-in GPS.

Personally I have always been hard on my watches. I usually will forget that I have one on until I catch it on something or bang it somewhere that send a shock through my arm. My earliest memory of having a watch was while living in Philadelphia as a young boy. I had been given a basic silver Timex as a birthday present. I wore that watch for years. That is until the band broke. After that I just carried it in my pocket where ever I went. That particular watch went though some hard times with me. I even had it with me when I was at a boy scout camp and went swimming for a merit badge. I remember later that I pulled it out of my pocket as I was crossing the street and dropped it. Because of traffic I didn't pick it up right away and it was run over by a SEPTA bus before I could retrieve it. As the ad says "it takes a licking and keeps on ticking". I wonder whatever happened to that watch?

If you need a watch for yourself or someone else go to www.Watches.TellMeAboutThat.com and get all the latest information, videos, articles and ads about watches of all makes and models. Go now and take a look for whatever occasion may be coming up. Then come back often and check it again!
