Will He Like Mens Jewellery?Submitted by Mr Writer Tue, 6 Oct 2009
A present that signifies what he means to you. And something that has truly been thought about, pondered, questioned, clarified and decided upon - as if the fate of your relationship depends on it. But is there still something a little risky about mens jewellery?
In some respects mens jewellery is the great double edged sword of Christmas or birthday gifts. In one sense, the very nature of jewellery is that it is desirable, quality, and a key indicator that if given as a present, it is to someone who means a lot. But it can also backfire. At the end of the day we can all be a little fickle, and some men just may not be inclined to wear decorative items or accessories. So how do you know if he will like mens jewellery? First off, consider carefully the likelihood that jewellery will be suitable for him. Be weary however, this is not a simple matter of masculinity - although the very notion of masculinity in the eyes of a female is quite relative, even the burliest brute may be fond of a certain style of necklace. Profession is a good indicator, if he works with his hands a ring might be quite unsuitable unless he is particularly inclined to scrub up on the weekend. However, if he is in a job that calls for him to attend formal situations on a regular basis, something simple and tasteful may be ideal. If you come to the conclusion a jewellery item may just fit the bill for him this Christmas, the next thing to consider is the style of item to go for - and the choice can be pretty daunting. When it comes to materials, the mens jewellery marketplace is full of choices - and is even more varied than what is seen in womens fashion stores. Traditional materials such as silver and gold still prevail, but in recent years technological developments and changing fashions have seen the arrival of titanium and steel rings, while necklaces have become more frequently produced using leather and wooden beads. Even though the connotations of a silver piece tend to lean more towards desirability and quality, while steel and leather may be seen as more informal, modern day pricing often sees these available at similar costs. That said, new materials such as titanium are a popular middle-ground for unique and durable items. About the Author
