Give Your Bird a Glad Time in a Flight Cage

A flight cage is a large cage which allows the birds to achieve flight. Birds need physical exercise and this is possible in a flight cage. These types of cages are very important for breeding birds as well. Those who have many birds within a small cage will find that their birds are not breeding. The reason for this is the small size of the cage. Now the size of the flight cage depends upon the size and nature of the bird. The interiors of the cage should be arranged in such a manner that the birds can make the maximum use of the space. Certain kinds of birds like lavender breasted waxbill, the shama thrush, red cheeked cordon bleus and the pekin robins cannot live without a flight cage; else they do not live long.

Some of the birds can manage to helicopter pretty well while the most other types need to fly back and forth in order to gain height. A good flight cage should be long and several inches wider than outspread wings of the birds in the cage.

2.Doors should be kept low to discourage escape. Short one ended perches are preferable for sleeping. Food and water dishes should be kept low in order to reduce mess and to give easy access to the care giver. Flight cages do not get as dirty as small cages and requires less effort for cleaning.
How to introduce a new bird and purchase a flight cage

You need to be careful while putting a bird in a flight cage. This is particularly true if you are putting a new bird among other birds that are already comfortable with the arrangement. In such a situation you need to move the new bird gradually to the larger space. The older birds need a period of introduction before the new bird can be released among them. You can hang the new bird in a smaller cage inside the flight cage. This will allow the new bird gets used to the wider space inside and the older birds will also get the chance to satisfy their curiosity. Once the older birds have lost their curiosity and the new bird has calmed down and relaxed, you can open the smaller cage to give the new bird access to the flight cage. The smaller cage should not be removed until everybody has settled down.
