Maintain your treadmill to help it last longer

People enjoy keeping fit and working out, either for personal reasons or just for the enjoyment.

Where as before you had to go to a local gym to use fitness equipment many people today own their own treadmill and use it to work out in their home. The treadmills are often placed in rooms that aren't generally used, or maybe even in the garage. Because of the conditions of these rooms it's important to keep on eye on the condition of your treadmill and wherever possible regular maintenance should be carried out on your equipment.

There are simple checks and routines that you can perform to help keep your treadmill in good working order.

One of the most important things to consider is lubricating your deck belt. The treadmill deck probably gets put through more stress than any other part of the machine, due to the constant pounding of feet when the equipment is used. Imagine what it does to the mechanics every time your feet hit the deck! If the deck belt becomes dry then additional friction can cause for the unnecessary wear and tear on your equipment. A simple application of treadmill lubricant means that your treadmill belt stays in great condition and you wont have to suffer unnecessary down time and expense.

Another simple bit of maintenance that you can perform is keeping the treadmill clean and dust free. The built up of dust on the mechanical parts can sometimes cause them to malfunction and break. Often by wiping the dust away with a damp cloth you can keep the moving parts free from obstruction. Do NOT use furniture polish though!

When performing simple maintenance on your treadmill you should always refer to your manual. This will help advise what parts can be easily removed to access items such as the treadmill deck.

If you don't keep your treadmill maintained and you run into problems you will more than likely need to call on a treadmill engineer. This call out could be costly, and you may even need to pay for replacement parts for your treadmill.

A few minutes of maintenance every month will keep both you and your treadmill happy and active!

Decklube is the only Treadmill Lubricant that you need to keep your Treadmill running smoothly.
