Casio Wrist Watches: It's Timekeeping History

Tadao Kashio established Casio in 1946. Kashio was a fabrication technology engineer, who developed the yubiwa pipe after World War II. The pipe was basically a holder (finger ring shaped) for cigarettes, which enabled smokers to smoke a cigarette down to its nub. Impoverished Japan, considering that this was after World War II, accepted the item, and Kashio's invention was a success.

From what fortune Kashio made from the yubiwa pipe, the foundations of what is now known as Casio Computer Co., was established. Starting with calculators, Casio developed the world's first electronic calculator in 1957, the Model 14-A. From then on, Casio delved into wrist watches, as with what the band's associated with today, and further on to keyboard synthesizers, digital cameras, storage media and media players.
