Do you know the latest pros & cons of plasma & LCD?

Submitted by David12

Plasma TVs were all the talk of the television industry just a few years ago but today they are being challenged by flat panel LCD TV's. Plasma televisions have come down in price over the last few years and the quality has only increased. Plasma TV's are today's most sought after and best viewing televisions on the market.
Plasma TV has better contrast ratios, black levels, and color reproduction than flat panel LCD. They also have noticeably wider viewing angles & better brightness levels and whites. Manufacturers are improving the viewing angles on flat panel LCD TVs so viewing angles are not as much of a factor anymore. If you like to view in a darker room, a Plasma TV will look better. But flat panel LCD TV is better if you are viewing in a room with lots of light.
Plasma TVs are known to have a better value than flat panel LCD TVs for televisions over 50 inches and can save you about 30% or more. This is a huge factor for many people looking to buy a new Flat Panel TV.
Plasma technology has always been faced with the problem of screen burn-in and is the reason why many people choose LCD technology over it. Flat panel LCD TV does not have any risk of screen Burn-In. Newer plasma TVs have been able to significantly reduce the risk of burn-in. If you play a lot of video games, or watch anything that leaves static images on the screen, flat panel LCD might be a better option for you & your kids.
Both Flat panel LCD and newer plasma televisions have comparable life spans. The LCD is purported to last several years longer, but both units will last for decades. Plasma TVs are often attacked for having a short lifespan. But the latest Plasma TVs are rated for a 60,000 hour lifespan. For the average TV viewer, that is between 20 and 55 year lifespan which is about the same as flat panel LCD TVs.
Finally, newer generations of plasma televisions have reduced power consumptions comparable to that of flat panel LCDs. This previous advantage was corrected from the power vacuum first-generation plasma units.

May be you took another decision to get one from Plasma TV & flat panel LCD TV . After this discussion your decision can be changed. But it's really very important to know the latest information before you buy a TV, because you can't buy it frequently.
