Eulogy Writing – So Much to Say, So Hard to Find the Words

When preparing a eulogy for a loved one it can be difficult to find the right words. Sometimes it’s a good idea to ask for professional help.
Writing a eulogy is an honor, but it is also one of the most difficult things you will ever have to do, particularly if the person who has passed away is a close friend or family member. No matter how eloquent you are, you can become overwhelmed with emotion. Your loss can make it hard to pinpoint exactly what you want to say.
There is often a feeling of pressure to write a eulogy that will encompass everything you loved or admired about the deceased. Yet, the most effective eulogies are those that are able to capture the person’s essence in a short, powerful way; reflecting the personality of the individual—whether they were solemn, funny, nurturing, brilliant, or generous. Being able to key in on the most important parts of the person’s life and relationships will make the eulogy both memorable and inspiring to the listeners.
If you feel that you can’t do justice to the eulogy by writing it yourself, there is no reason to feel bad. Even the most eloquent people hit a wall when it comes to writing something as emotional as a remembrance for a loved one. That’s why many turn to a professional writer to help them put their feelings in to words. A good writer will be able to take your unstructured writing after your pour your heart out on paper, and write a simple but eloquent eulogy that can bring real honor to your deceased loved one. In fact, if writing is not your forte at all, you can even record yourself talking about the person and let the professional writer listen to it as the inspiration for the eulogy.
The most important thing of all is that the eulogy you write should honor the person who has passed away; highlighting who they were and what they meant to those they left behind. You and a writer can work together to give friends and family a wonderful, memorable tribute during a dark time.
