A portable HD TV - how does that sound to you? Really cool huh? Well, how about turning your laptop or your PC into an HD TV - sounds even better! Indeed HD TVs or high definition televisions are the hip and cool of digital TV broadcasting these days. Analog TVs are a thing of the past, these days when you want to really enjoy watching SuperBowl or the Emmy Awards or movie re-runs on TV, it has got to be an HD TV. Pinnacle, one of the major video editing companies in the planet has take on the HD TV mania. This time though, they are going to turn your laptop or your desktop computer into a portable HD TV.

So how do you turn a computer into a portable HD TV? Pinnacle Systems has cleverly made a device called PCTV HD Pro Stick. The device costs $130. It's a pretty neat portable media disk like device that can be plugged in right into your PC's USB port. But for you to be able to maximize the potential of this device, of course, you will definitely need a robust PC. The Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick is made for students, travelers or any home buddy who wishes to enjoy both computing and home TV and theatre right in one machine. It's a great gadget for people would like to take advantage to of free broadcast of HD TV in certain locations like the airport, in downtown, hotels or in a dormitory room.

Despite all this attractive promises though, this portable HD TV device is still yet to capture the attention of the most discriminating home theater and digital TV buff. Devices that enable computers and laptops to receive TV broadcast signals and record TV shows aren't totally a fresh idea. In fact, there have been products released in the past that operates similarly to the Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick. But those devices of course then were not made to accept HD TV signals.

Experts, reviewers and users who have tried the device from Pinnacle Systems have all agreed that it has potential although it is still in its infancy stage. The device and its software components still have a handful of bugs. Reception and the picture quality results are still unwatchable though HD TV signals can greatly affect viewing.

But as experts say, the Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick really has potential. Turning your computers into a portable HD TV is a big plus especially for TV buffs who would like to record their favorite shows on high definition quality.
