Nintendo Wii Fit – Revolution in Exergaming

Submitted by angelinalove

Here is the new trend catching very fast namely exergaming that is instead of just sitting at the TV watching games, you are actually interacting and moving around, so you are more active. We have seen it in DanceDance Revolution, Rock Star and many more but Wii Fit is truly exceptional and par excellence. The designers themselves have been astonished by the immense response and popularity of Wii Fit which includes balancing, stretching, aerobic exercises and even yoga. Wii Fit sold around 3, 38,000 units in just two weeks since it made its way in UK. As more and more people discover Wii Fit, its craze is skyrocketing indeed! Undoubtedly the fastest selling fitness tool ever witnessed in history.

Not only it has been a huge hit in Japan but Britain too is witnessing the same trend. Wii Fit does helps in maintaining a perfect fitness with Wii Balance Board as also helps in reducing unwanted fat and weight. This is possible only provided if you follow a simultaneous strict calorie diet as displayed in Wii Fit advertisement.

Wii Fit with a plethora of activities can make way for a perfect work out for the fitness seekers. Video games really are not meant for couch potatoes anymore. The game also helps in assessing your fitness level by measuring your balance and determines your BMI (Body mass index) based on age, height and weight. At the end, you get assigned a "Fit Age” which will make you know as to what age you look like as!

First exergaming was introduced back in 1982 named Atari Puffer followed by AutoDesk HighCycle, Nintendo Power Pad, Powerglove, Tectrix VR Bike and VR ClimberDance, Dance Revolution, Cat-Eye Game Bike, Yourself! Fitness, Bodypad for Fighting Games, Gamercize and last but not the least Fisher Price Smart Cycle. All did make a decent impact but not as healthy as Nintendo Wii Fit.
First shown in July of 2007 Nintendo's Wii Fit was first released in Japan the following December and quickly racked up over a million units in sales. A flawless combination of exercising and video gaming experience.
