Outdoor Floor Mats

Whereas Outdoor Floor Mats were once only considered functional, they are now used also in decorative ways to brighten and highlight outdoor areas including patios and doorsteps. They can be used to add color to an otherwise dull outside area.

Placing a floor mat just outside your main entrances, at the doorstep, will eliminate as much as ninety percent of dirt from entering into your home. With their ability to keep your home free from dust and dirt, this makes outdoor floor mats essential to have around your home. Many Outdoor Floor Mats have raised pieces coming up off the mat which effectively scrapes dirt and mud from shoes as a person walks over the mat. A popular style of outdoor mat is the one that looks a lot like synthetic grass. This type is very effective at scraping and trapping dirt. It is also very easy to clean. Just turn it upside down and shake it out, then hose it off.

Other types of Outdoor Floor Mats include those that are made from thick, polypropylene carpet that have a ribbed surface. These work in a similar way to the synthetic grass style mat in that they scrape across the surface of the shoe effectively removing all dirt and mud from it.

Another style of outdoor mat is one made from recycled rubber. It is thick and its purpose is more to use in areas where there is a lot of water, such as around swimming pools. While it does not trap dirt as well as other types of mats it does a very good job of trapping water in the cracks on its surface.

Outdoor Floor Mats should be fade resistant, whether they are made from polypropylene carpet, rubber or any other substance. They also need to be very durable as they will get a lot of use outside and will also be subject to extremes of weather. As they will definitely get wet, they should also be resistant to molds and mildew and at the same time be easy to clean.
