Shoppers can find big discounts onlineSubmitted by Jack Walters Sun, 9 Aug 2009
Shopping has evolved greatly over the last ten years or so, with the Internet catching and surpassing the high street as the premier destination for shoppers. As high street retailers struggle, with many forced to close down stores and make staff redundant, online retailers move from strength to strength.
The main advantage with the Internet over the high street is it's much easier to compare prices. On the high street, if shoppers want to find the best price for a product they would have to walk from one store to the next, and then of course would be limited to the stores that were in their town or within easy reach. With the Internet, shoppers are able to look at different stores side by side and compare prices easily, allowing them to find the best price, which is often hugely discounted on the best high street price. The prices online are often reduced further by the many discounts and rewards offered by retail websites. Retailers who have websites and bricks and mortar stores usually have their online prices much cheaper because the overheads involved with running a website are lower than with a high street store. Often you'll find that the discounts and rewards offered online make the prices cheaper than even the best sale prices that high street stores can offer.
