Succinct Brand Review of MBT - The Anti-Footwear CompanySubmitted by trprice7 Wed, 31 Dec 2008
MBT Footwear sells themselves as the "anti-shoe" manufacturer. With their rounded soles and innovative design philosophy, they've quickly grown into a major brand with a massive and fervent fan base.
But, do these shoes really live up the hype? Are they as comfortable as everyone says? More importantly, are they worth the high price? For the answers to these questions and more, keep reading for a high level review of MBT shoes. MBT Prices For a standard pair of MBT Footwear shoes, you can expect to pay between $220 and $280. When considering a basic sneaker, that's a lot of money, and for many it's simply too much. Fans of the shoe, though, say it's worth it. The Comfort and Fit of MBT Shoes The basic concept behind the design of MBT shoes is that they're made not just for the foot, but for the whole body. So, the manufacturers produced a shoe with a rounded sole. The concept is that it creates a more natural gait, improves your posture, reduces impact and can even relieve back pain while simultaneously burning more calories. The reality is that for many customers who aren't accustomed to this type of shoe, the experience can be awkward and uncomfortable. Fans of the brand will tell you it just takes time to get used to the shoe, while critics say it shouldn't require a few weeks to feel comfortable in a new pair of shoes. Personally, MBT shoes aren't for me. Overall, I found the shoes to be uncomfortable and actually somewhat unsettling. I tried the shoes for 4 days and was still unable to get into a rhythm or comfortable walk. In short, this is a shoe that you really have to try before you commit to it. Quality of the Shoe MBT makes fantastic, high-quality footwear that is designed to take a beating and last. These are shoes designed for walking and constant, daily use. Most fans of the brand hail their durability and high-quality manufacturer's guarantee. Of course, at more than $200 a pair, they should be. MBT Style and Design When you wear an MBT shoe, get ready for people to start asking questions. The rounded sole is certainly unique and definitely attention-getting. The question is - is that what you're looking for in a shoe? Most MBT shoes come in a sneaker or casual, lace-up shoe. They're not made for evening or formal wear. So, if you're looking for something that's fashionable and comfortable, you may want to look elsewhere. Conclusion Personally, MBT Footwear isn't for me - the fit was wrong and the imposed rolling gait was uncomfortable and awkward. But, for a brand that's quickly attracted thousands of die-hard fans, it's hard to knock it. Basically, try before you buy and see whether you love it or hate it.
