There are many fast-food restaurants present in the Philippines today. Some of the most popular names are McDonalds, Wendy’s Hamburgers, Burger King, Chowking, Greenwich Pizza, Kenny Rogers, Pizza Hut, and last certainly not the least is Jollibee.
So what do you think are the difference between those fast food restaurants? Though some of them sell different menus than the others, and some provides the same menu from other such as with Greenwich Pizza and Pizza Hut, Wendy’s Hamburgers and Burger King, those names are still have something in common, good tasting foods.
But when it comes to the Filipinos, there is only one kind of fast food restaurant that can only provide some of the Filipino favorites such as Palabok and deep fried Bangus along with American fast food menus like burgers and fries, and this is with the Jollibee. Jollibee is a fast-food restaurant chain based in the Philippines. It is an American-style fast-food restaurant with Filipino-influenced dishes specializing in burgers, spaghetti, chicken and some local Filipino dishes such as Palabok, Longanisa, Tocino, fried Bangus, and many more.
Jollibee’s fame doesn’t stop there; Jollibee is currently the biggest fast-food chain in the country. Aside from chains inside the country, Jollibee outside of the country such as in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Dubai and Brunei. A study has made on December 2007 telling that Jollibee has become one of the biggest fast-food chains in the world with 1,655 stores worldwide with a total sales of more than US$1 billion.
And as of 2008 of March, Jollibee has recorded a number of 1,466 stores in the Philippines namely Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich Pizza, Red Ribbon Bakeshop, Délifrance, and Manong Pepe’s.
But other than those expansions and acquisitions of popular fast food restaurants in the Philippines, Jollibee have also acquired some famous fast food restaurants outside of the country.
On August 26, 2008, that Jollibee formally signed the P 2.5 billion ($ 55.5 million) deal with Beijing-based Hong Zhuang Yuan through its wholly owned subsidiary Jollibee Worldwide Pte. Ltd.
Aside from Hong Zhuang Yuan, Jollibee purchased 70% of Taipei restaurant Lao Dong in June and Chun Shui Tang tea house in 2006. In 2004, Jollibee acquired Chinese fast food chain Yonghe King for $ 22.5 million.
