What kind of flowers is best in funerals? The use of flowers in such an event have been widely practiced all over the world. Flowers have been used as a way to express one's feelings towards the other. One popular example is a man expressing his deep love and respect for a woman through the use of flowers, as well as chocolates. Funerals have also been one of the many events in which flowers play a major role in expressing one's consolidation and grief.

Popular flowers for these events are usually poppies, chrysanthemums, marigold, and orchids. In the Philippines, these flowers are also popular in holidays such as All Souls Day and All Saints Day. In funerals, these flowers are also used as consolidation for the dead as well as expressing grief in a form of action. But aside from these flowers, Filipinos have also used some of their native flowers as a sign for grief and symbol for the dead. These particular flowers philippines are popularly known as the Kalachichi.

The Flower Of The Dead
What made the flower very popular in Filipino culture is its close relations to the dead. This is mainly because, in the past, it was tradition for Filipinos to offer the Kalachuchi flower to the dead, as a sign of respect as well as remembering their fallen loved ones. Today, because of these practices, the Kalachuchi flowers philippines have now been known as the symbol of the dead. Moreover, local superstition says that the tree put strain on the relationships of those living nearby. But there is more to the flower as with its use for remembering and giving respect for the dead. The Kalachuchi flower is also known for its medicinal properties.

Kalachuchi has a variety of medicinal properties. Its bark, which contains the bitter glucoside plumierid, is used as a purgative, emmenagogue, and febrifuge when in decoction. In Mexico, the calcium salt-containing latex is given for toothache, and when combined with coconut oil is used as a remedy for itching.

Other than medicine, the Kalachuchi flowers philippines have also been used in other more popular forms. Other than an ornamental flower, usually because of its simplicity, the flowers are also known to be the source of the perfume known as "Frangipani."

Although the flower is known to be connected with the dead, several industries have begun using the flower for their floral arrangements. In a popular flower market in the Philippines, Dangwa, the Kalachuchi have also been used for wreaths commonly gifted for funerals.
