Why Inexpensive Colognes are Almost Never a Smart RecommendationSubmitted by trprice7 Mon, 15 Dec 2008
Wholesale colognes may be cheap, but you'll pay for those savings in the long-run. These lower-priced, imitation and discount products can cause skin allergies, the aroma won't last long and can be sniffed out from a mile away. In short, cheap cologne smells like cheap cologne.
Keep reading to find out exactly why cheap or imitation cologne is never a good idea. Rashes Normally, a mid-range or higher-end cologne is evaluated to make sure the product doesn't irritate sensitive skin or spark allergic reactions. The other benefit of spending a little more? If you do develop an allergy, a trusted store or manufacturer is more likely to let you return the product. On the other hand, a wholesale or cheap discount brand of cologne is likely to use a higher alcohol concentration, cheaper ingredients and chemicals that can cause your skin to dry out or have an allergic reaction. It's also unlikely that the manufacturer or retailer will let you return a wholesale product if you do develop a skin allergy. Lack of Longevity A middle to high-end cologne is designed to last. That means if you spend the $50 or $60 for a cologne like Burberry Summer, you'll find that one spray should be enough for the night. The scent will blend with your clothes and body oils, and it will last. With an imitation or discount brand, you'll often find the scent dissipates quickly or reacts poorly with your sweat and body oils. Alcohol or Overly Potent Smell Fake and cheap colognes have a distinct smell - like an astringent, but too-sweet alcohol that burns the inside your nostrils. It's almost like cheap, white wine mixed with rubbing alcohol. If you don't believe it, try doing your own smell test. Get two pieces of cardboard paper - spray one with a middle to high-end department store brand and another with a low-quality, wholesale or discount brand at your local drugstore. Then smell them separately. The high-end scent is typically warmer and fuller while the cheaper scent is likely to be unpleasant and astringent. Fake Products You may have scored a great deal on that hot new Guerlain cologne, but is it the real deal? If you're actually looking for a high-end perfume, you're not going to find it in wholesale quantities. A good rule of thumb to follow is if a deal is too good to be true, it probably is. This is true with just about any product, not only cologne. Most buyers should avoid online retailers of wholesale colognes and look for sales at a local, trusted store or reputable website.
