Why toys from the past are better than current toys

Submitted by Jack Walters

As technology has advanced over the years, toys have changed drastically. Their design, function and materials have all evolved from being simple wooden toys to the latest games console, but has children's enjoyment of the toys increased with the advancements in technology?

Games consoles and electronic toys can do a lot and provide much entertainment for sure, but the simple pleasure a small child experiences from stuffed animals such as his favourite teddy bear can't be measured.

Traditional toys such as Steiff bears, and other soft toys, are hand crafted by toymakers to be as beautiful and captivating as can be. They're not machine built en masse by factories in the Far East, with margins the only thing driving their production. They're built with love, and are built to last a lifetime.

Simple toys like teddy bears have a magic of their own that any new technology could never recreate, no matter how much processing power it had.

Mario and Sonic may be icons to today's generation, but their image pales when compared to classic children's toys such as Rupert the Bear and Paddington Bear. They're the true icons of yesteryear, and are beautiful and timeless toys as well.
