Romance and love develops in any enviroment,and not surprisingly,it can blossom in the workplace.It is not all that unusual at all.At times it can be considered one of the better places to find your prospective partner.This is because you are with them for a large part of the day and can see first hand what type of person they are.So,is this a good place to look for love.Well,there are alot of pitfalls that go with this method.There are always pros and cons to all of the different places and ways to look for your new partner,but I think that at work has more cons than pros.

Firstly,imagine if one of your co workers sends you a present,it will immediately become part of the office gossip,maybe behind your back,which can negatively impact on the overall office functions.This is a common reason why most companies frown upon any sort of workplace romance,and may move the employee to another area,or worse still,fire them.The companies management may consider that the workers mind is not on the job,and therefore,their decision making and contribution to overall team effort is not really up to scratch.

Something else that may cause problems for a couple is if one of them gets promoted over the other.Whilst they are a couple away from work,there will always be that competitive thing (for the guys maybe just ego ),which can get in the way of being professional.The company may be in a difficult position when it comes to firing an employee and therefore may just move one to a completely different area.This may have a negative impact on the relationship and the workplace as well.Some may also consider the opposite,if the couple are constantly together their work mates may feel intimidated by their staying together in decisions regardles of what they might really feel.

I guess that despite all the cons of this type of relationship,there is one positive in that each partner is aware of the negatives and pressures that the other is currently experiencing whilst at their workplace,which can generally be influencing their current moods and feelings.I think that if you go this way,it is probably best that you be discreet about it whilst just in the dating stage,avoiding gossip,and keeping a proper distance between your private and work lives.
